Topic Brainstorm: Storybooks!

1) Doing a storybook of 3 kings from Indian tales (Ramayana: Vali, Ravana, an Vishvamitra) I've yet to read about these kings but going through their tales seems like a fun idea. Learning about the character of them but also their feats or arrogance in these stories seems like a fun idea. I think all three of them are connected in a way and I could probably do something really cool to show that link.

2) Creation stories! I'm not yet familiar with some of the creation stories in Indian Epics, but I think it would be cool learn about them. I grew up reading mythology book and it would be interesting to see the how Indian Epics tell their side of things.

3) God and Goddesses/ Deva and Devi: I am unfamiliar with all the gods and goddesses from Indian Epics so I'm excited to learn their origins and maybe so epic tales involving them. Specifically their origins and possibly their most epic feats, whether creation or a certain battle. I think Sati, Shiva, and Ganesha would be my focus cause they are the ones I feel the most familiar with.

4)Avatars of Vishnu: This seems like a fun and interesting idea because it focuses on one god and the tales of that gods avatars on earth. Gods always have cool stories in their avatars, I could pick a few of my favorites and re-tell with with a bit of pazazz! Of course learning more about Vishnu would be a good start...

Introduction to a Horror Movie Lover

Hello everyone, my name is Callie Simonton. I'm a Film and Media studies major currently in my final semester at the University of Oklahoma. I love movies, specifically horror movies. That's a strange niche I know, who in their right mind would choose that genre over the rest? Maybe it's due to the fact that I grew up with them and find even the low budget and cult movies to be an enjoyable experience. Something about the idea of the extensive makeup effects and the creation of paranormal and otherworldly monsters make my interests in horror films even worse. Favorites? The Saw series, those films are just so mind bending and fun to watch. I took a few Horror classes over the last few semesters and I enjoyed every single bit of them. With that in mind, in the future I'm hoping to make or take part in making some horror films as a career. I live with a few roommates in Norman, one of those being my little brother.
